About 黄明妍 

Alexa Huang (b.1995 Beijing) is a Chinese visual artist currently based in New York City. Alexa graduated from Colby College with a BFA in Music and Economics, and is acquiring her MFA in painting from New York Academy of Art. 

Alexa’s work explores both eastern and western aesthetics, incorporating mixed-media techniques inspired by traditional Chinese ink paintings. Instead of representing life in a realistic lens, Alexa strives to achieve some sentimental acquiescence. 

Referencing her musical instinct in visual art, Alexa fuses abstract geometric patterns along with gestural painterly marks. By controlling the range of values and saturation in layers challenges the sequential expression of the image of a whole, creating an unique rhythm and  stratified connotation to her work.
